Darkness to Light: How Education Prevents Child Sexual Abuse

According to research published in 2013, 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before they turn 18. For a majority of these children, their abusers are not strangers, but people they know and trust. Education about the signs and symptoms of sexual abuse is essential to protecting the children of our community.
What is Darkness to Light?
Darkness to Light is a global nonprofit empowering adults to protect children from sexual abuse. With a mission to transform communities, they offer evidence-informed training programs that raise awareness, educate on signs and symptoms, and highlight prevention of child sexual abuse.
Darkness to Light offers evidence-informed training programs to protect the children in our community through education, awareness, and prevention.

Trainings cover topics such as understanding the prevalence and impact of abuse, recognizing signs of grooming behavior, and implementing strategies to protect children in various settings.
How Do We Fit In?
123 Look at Me Learning is dedicated to the safety of the children in our community. Our staff receive background checks and follow safety guidelines to protect both them and the children we care for. As a certified facilitator with Darkness to Light, center director Jan Govin trains staff on the identification and prevention of child abuse, and we are working hard to extend that opportunity to our community.
